MICHAEL MOORE'S WEEK AHEAD

10.01.03am GMT Tue 18th Mar 2008

MONDAY 17 - FRIDAY 21 MARCH 2008

Here are some highlights of what I will be doing this week:

"On Monday morning I will be attending a meeting of the Constitutional Commission at Holyrood in my new role as Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland. Following that I will be accompanying the Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Nicol Stephen, on his visit to the Borders. We will be in Eyemouth initially, visiting the High School followed by the Fishermen's Mission. We will then be travelling to Hawick where we will visit the Community Hospital, followed by a walk down the High Street to meet local retailers. Later on I will be travelling down to Westminster for the start of the parliamentary week.

On Tuesday morning I will attend a parliamentary breakfast meeting at Chatham House, the Royal Institute for International Affairs. I will then take part in a four mile walk with a number of MPs from all parties to highlight the issue of access to safe water in the developing world. Four miles is the average distance someone in Africa has to travel to get clean water. Later on I will be speaking at a one-day conference on politics and citizenship organised by Unlock Democracy, the campaign for democratic renewal.

On Wednesday morning I will be attending a breakfast meeting hosted by Ofcom and the All Party Media Group to discuss the public service broadcasting review which has important implications for rural areas such as the Borders. I will be in the chamber at noon for Prime Minister's Questions, and in the afternoon I will be speaking in a Westminster Hall debate on access to water in developing countries. Later on I will attend the weekly meeting of the Liberal Democrat parliamentary party.

On Thursday morning I will be travelling back home to the Borders, and in the afternoon I will be in Jedburgh, where I will be co-hosting a special digital switchover surgery with Digital UK, to offer residents of the town the chance to come along and have their questions about switchover answered.

Over the Easter weekend I will be spending time with family and friends. Happy Easter!"
