East Berwickshire Ward

David Raw has been returned as the LibDem Councillor.

Priorities for East Berwickshire - LibDems will deliver

  • A fair share of the SBC Budget for East Berwickshire, and keeping in touch through regular surgeries, report back newsletters and contact with Community Councils.

  • Retain village schools. They are the heart of our communities.

  • Better post 16 opportunities at Eyemouth High School following criticism by the Inspectorate.

  • Improve early diagnosis and support for children with dyslexia.

  • Work for better dental provision in Eyemouth and East Berwickshire.

  • Meals on Wheels a vital lifeline for the elderly. Where possible use wholesome locally sourced produce in all SBC catering.

  • Intermediate respite care for the elderly and others with special needs is vital and needs to be sustained.

  • Affordable housing to help our young people to get on the housing ladder and to keep our communities alive.

  • Development needs to be at the right scale and in line with village needs, plans and architectural styles. Unsightly over-development should be rejected. The Berwickshire coast is a precious heritage.

  • Post Offices are a vital resource in our villages. We will fight to keep them open.

  • Jobs and Tourism Support and encourage a strong local economy.

  • Digital TV Switchover. Get SBC Trading Standards Officers to give advice and to vet the cost and quality of work to avoid 'rip offs' in the changeover.
