  • Support local shops and ensure the Council and Local Enterprise company supports the Town Centre

Jim Hume - Experienced farmer

Born and raised in the Borders, Jim Hume is dedicated to making Gala and District a better place. Jim has a history of representing the local community, recently serving as President for the National Farmer's Union for the Lothians and Borders, now chairing their Environment and Land Use Committee for Scotland. Jim also fights for the local economy, being a voluntary Director for the scottish Enterprise Borders in Galashiels. Hume has a huge experience of lobbying government, in the Borders, Holyrood and even Brussels, at all times working for a better deal for the Borders. He will bring experience and determination in ensuring that Galashiels and District is properly represented at Council HQ. "The trust people have already put in me, proves that I am dedicated to making Galashiels and District a better place" says Hume. "I promise to work hard to make Gala & District the jewel in the Borders, and will only be driven by the results achieved".
